I'm looking for work that I can do mostly when my children are in school.  I have a degree in business.  I'm thinking of getting some refresher training in accounting and trying to freelance bookkeeping or something like that.   Anyone have any advice to go about this?

H&R Block will have classes beginning soon. It is an 84 hour course. I started for same reasons as you in 2006. Since then, I have had other opportunities other than working with clients with their taxes... I'm instructing classes and wrote a training manual. Let me know if you'd like more info. Otherwise, you can go to the site: www.hrblock.com, look under tab for classes.
