What do you do with your kids while you work?
Do you use outside help, kids in school, or just work around the needs - tell us what you do to carve out work time from kid time.

In the type of business I'm in, the actual work comes in waves and spurts. This works out great for me because it allows me to spend time with my son doing normal "mom" stuff. When I'm actually working on a project, which is pretty much daily, my husband, who is an important part of the business, tries to keep my little guy occupied so I can complete my tasks at hand. My son knows that when mom is working, he has to do something until I'm available again. He also often helps out on thing that he can, like helping mom gift wrap, sort and put away supplies, mix ingredients (if possible and safe for him to do so) for our spa products, etc. As my business grows and my time is less flexible, I may have to come up with another option but for now, this works well for me.
When the work is light, I work from home, getting in the hours when I have free time from the kids, such as nap time, or after their bedtime. When the work is heavy, I have to go into the office, which of course requires that I have outside help to watch my children while I am at work. My oldest will start school this fall, which will change things up a bit, but I will cross that bridge when I get to it.
