Product Advocate
Tutorial
Because of the internet and the ability for individuals to order product on-line for themselves, many companies are employing the product advocate method. The company doesn't have to have retail outlets in all areas, nor deliver product to a local sales rep for distribution, all they need are people to tell their friends and contacts about the product in exchange for a percentage of the sale. Sometimes this is just in the form of conversation with friends, family, and other people you come in contact with, and in other cases, you might actually set up a small shop, on-line store, booth, etc., and try to draw people in. The product is then shipped directly to the customer. You carry no inventory.
Affiliate Marketing is very much the same as product advocate, but done on the internet. You set up an on-line store, blog, or other website that tells people about products in your specific area or for a specific company. Your visitors click on links to the on-line retailers that sell those products, and you get a cut of the sales. Your job is to get people to visit the sites. Like any other business, in order to grow beyond your circle of friends and family, you should develop a long-term strategy for advertisement and business growth. The internet can make it easier to reach interested people that you wouldn't normally meet in person. Visit our Promotion Hub for more ideas.
